Each PDF pattern contains detailed instructions on everything you need to know to crochet the ducklings. For the parent version, there are instructions for three color types of ducklings based on real-life color variations (pekin duck, female mallard & male mallard). For the baby duckling version, there are instructions for two color types (mallard & white unicolor). The instructions can be followed step-by-step and are accompanied by photos for all the trickier parts.

The parent female mallard color variation requires a basic understanding of crochet charts to crochet the wings.

Next to the written pattern, each PDF includes a list of all needed materials & tools, a table of all stitch types/abbreviations required for this pattern, and also a tutorial section with detailed explanations for some of the more unusual used stitches and techniques.

About the finished Ducklings

With the hook size (4mm) and yarn type (aran weight) I’m using, the final duckling is around 14cm long, 11cm wide, and 14cm tall. The baby duckling is roughly 6cm long, 4cm wide, and 6cm tall. All measurements are always taken at the widest part.

Pattern Inspiration

This crochet pattern is based on ducks of the real world. Ducks are such enjoyable birds - I really hope these crochet ducklings can bring some of my love for ducks across!
