Next to the written pattern, the PDF includes a list of all needed materials & tools, a table of all stitch types/abbreviations required for this pattern, and also a tutorial section with detailed explanations for some of the more unusual used stitches and techniques.

About the finished Balloon

With the hook size and yarn type I’m using, the final Whale Shark Balloon (from top to basket at the bottom) is around 35cm tall, and around 20cm wide (measured at the biggest part of the balloon envelope). Captain Froggie is very small: roughly 6cm tall and 4.5cm wide.

Pattern Inspiration

Whale sharks are gentle giants that roam the oceans. Usually, some smaller fish are tagging along and enjoy the free ride. This friendly whale shark is roaming the sky and also taking along passengers in its basket. The most famous passenger is Captain Froggie!
